Pan Asian Repertory Theatre announced today the passing of founding member and company senior artist Ernest Abuba, the award-winning actor, playwright, screenwriter, and director on stage, film, and television, following a brief illness.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Black theater pioneer Shauneille Perry Ryder has died at age 92. Perry was an actress, playwright and educator who was one of the first Black women to direct plays Off Broadway, most notably for the New Federal Theater.

Broadway music director, conductor, arranger, and songwriter Donald Pippin has passed away at 95. Pippin's work included his notable collaborations with Jerry Herman, including Mame and La Cage aux Folles.

Robert John Weber, Jr., 63, passed away May 3rd in Wanaque, New Jersey. Born in Midland, Michigan, Robert was a dancer, actor and choreographer who performed on Broadway in Miss Saigon and Meet Me in St. Louis, in the Broadway national tour of Jerome Robbins Broadway and as principal soloist with multiple European ballet companies.

Alan had been looking forward to the forthcoming UK Tour, to celebrating his 50th Anniversary with YES and their iconic Close To The Edge album, where Alan’s journey with YES began in July 1972. He recently celebrated the 40th Anniversary of his marriage to his loving wife Gigi. Alan passed away peacefully at home.

Liotta is most known for playing Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams and Henry Hill in Goodfellas. He has also been seen in the Bee Movie, The Many Saints of Newark, Blow, Wild Hogs, Hannibal, Marriage Story, and more.

According to Deadline, actor John Aylward has died at 75. Aylward was best known for his performances as Dr. Donald Anspaugh on the hit NBC medical drama series ER, which ran from 1994 through 2009. The Seattle-native joined the series during its third season. 

Rosmarie Trapp, whose family served as the inspiration for the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music, has passed away at age 93.

Country singer and actor Mickey Gilley, known for launching the Urban Cowboy movement in Country music and hit songs including 'Stand By Me,' 'Room Full of Roses' and 'Lonely Nights,' died Saturday in Branson, Missouri. Gilley was 86 and had just come off of the road, his favorite place, having played ten shows in April. He passed peacefully with his family and close friends by his side.

The country music community was rocked today with the tragic news of the sudden passing of country music giant Naomi Judd. Hailing from the Appalachian foothills of Ashland, Ky., mother and daughter duo, The Judds, were first discovered by RCA label head Joe Galante in 1983 after landing a spot on WSM-TV’s 'The Ralph Emery Show.'

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Tony Award-winning stage and screen actor Robert Morse has died at age 90. Morse may be best known to Broadway fans as the original  J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, a role for which he won a Tony Award. 

The great Chicago actress Hollis Resnik passed away this past Sunday at the age of 67. 

Legendary Broadway casting director, Jay Binder, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 at the age of 71. Binder died peacefully at home.

Gottfried voiced the role of Iago the Parrot in Disney's classic animated film Aladdin. He has also been seen in Problem Child, The Aristocrats, Thumbelina, and Animal Crackers. He has also been seen on Saturday Night Live, Saved By the Bell, Fairly Odd Parents, Cyberchase, and more.

Donn B. Murphy, PhD, former president and executive director of the National Theatre in Washington, DC for 35 years, and Georgetown University Professor Emeritus, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Lauderdale, FL on April 3, announced his spouse and life partner of 49 years, US Army Col. H. Jones 'Jon' Carrow, Ret.

Stage and screen actor Nehemiah Persoff has passed away at 102 years old. 

Tony Award-winning actor Rae Allen passed away this afternoon at the age of 95.

 26 year-old Lauren Pazienza has been arrested and charged with fatally shoving Broadway singing coach Barbara Maier Gustern. Pazienza has been charged with manslaughter. 

The death last week of Broadway singing coach Barbara Maier Gustern has been classified by New York police as a homicide. Her attacker remains at large.

According to People, the Ukrainian Ballet Dancer Artyom Datsishin has died from injuries related to a Russian shelling. The star passed away at the age of 43 after a three-week struggle in the hospital. He passed away in the hospital. His funeral was held in Kyviv yesterday, March 18th. 

The Broadway community honors the memory of Elizabeth Ireland McCann, better known as Liz, the Tony Award-winning producer and general manager who was among the first successful female leaders in Broadway.
