Noel was an English playwright, composer, actor, producer and director. His plays include The Vortex (1924), Hay Fever (1925), Private Lives (1930), Blithe Spirit (1941), Present Laughter (1943) and This Happy Breed (1943). He produced, wrote, starred in and co-directed (with David Lean) the Academy Award-winning film In Which We Serve (1942) as well as writing the screenplay for one of the most beloved British films of all time, Brief Encounter (1945). Brian Murray was a Tony-nominated actor known for his commanding stage presence and rich voice. Born in Ireland in 1937, Murray began his acting career in Dublin before moving to London and eventually settling in New York City. Murray made his Broadway debut in 1961 in the play "A Man For All Seasons," but it was his performance in the 1973 production of "The Play About the Baby" that earned him his first Tony nomination.
