Cats Revival 2016

The stage is being set for the Jellicle Ball! According to The Stage,  the Royal Ballet's resident choreographer, Wayne McGregor, has signed on to choreograph Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of Cats. Filming is set to begin in London this November. Casting is now underway.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musical CATS, based on the poetry of T.S. Eliot, is one tiptoe closer to the big screen.

The heavyside lair will welcome a few more Cats than usual today. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the first-ever Broadway revival of Cats will play its final performance at 8 PM tonight, December 30, 2017 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W 52nd Street) after 16 previews and 593 regular performances.

Each year, six to eight million dogs and Cats will enter shelters and rescue groups, but only about half will be adopted. To encourage shelter pet adoption during the holiday season, the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic Broadway hit Cats have teamed up with The Shelter Pet Project to help these furry friends find their forever homes. Producers The Shubert Organization and The Nederlander Organization announced today that the first-ever Broadway revival of CATS will play its final performance at 8 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W 52nd Street) after 16 previews and 593 regular performances. Preview performances of CATS began Thursday, July 14, 2016 followed by a Sunday, July 31, 2016 opening night.

TDF's Autism Theatre Initiative (ATI), which presents autism-friendly performances of Broadway shows for an audience of families with children and adults on the autism spectrum, launches its seventh season with the first-ever autism-friendly performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical, Cats.

On March 9th, 2017, Sing For Your Seniors (SFYS) hosted the latest in its series of Broadway Sessions with cast members from Cats for the LGBT seniors at SAGE Center Midtown. The musical performance, led by SFYS Session Leader Daniel Torres (Broadway: Beautiful, Evita, The Pirate Queen, The Woman in White, Off-Broadway: Altar Boyz, National Tour: Wicked), included songs of the performers' choosing as well as songs from Cats. The SAGE Center audience enjoyed a one-hour session, as well as a meet-and-greet visit with the cast following the performance. Scroll down for photos from the event!

It's been nothing but 'memories' for Betty Buckley this theater season. She won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Grizabella, the glamour cat, in Cats when it opened in 1982 and replaced Glenn Close as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. Both shows are in revival runs right now on Broadway.
