Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: High School Edition (Freshman - Senior) Position: Raue Center School For The Arts – Scenic/Projection Designer Hours: Varies based on availability 

Stipend: $1000 

Raue Center School For The Arts (RCSA) is thrilled to be launching its 2025 Season of productions and is looking for a skilled, self-motivated Scenic/Projection Designer to join our team for the RCSA production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: High School Edition. Potential Scenic/Projection Designer should be a self-starter and an excellent collaborator with the creative team members. 

Scenic/Projection Designer Responsibilities: 

  • Understanding the script and production specifications and collaborating with the Director, Technical Director, Production Manager, and Production Director to design the layout and look of the set using pencil sketches and/or software. 
  • Researching Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to create thematic elements and conceptual looks. 
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child based on the lore of Harry Potter to assist in creating a design based on the look/style of the original but SHOULD NOT be necessarily copied. 
  • Scenic/Projection Designer should approach the show in a way that they create their own feel and look. 
  • Research, design, prepare, and implement any images or projections that can be used in the overall design. 
  • Set Designer should have knowledge of QLab in order to implement projections. Selecting lighting practicals, furniture, wall and floor coverings, and all other props used as set dressing if applicable. Producing a model or floor plan for the Director, Technical Director, Production Manager, and Production Director approval and implementing changes as required. Providing potential cost and time estimates to build and stay within budget guidelines. 
  • Work closely with the Production Manager(s), Technical Director, and Production Director to coordinate build time, space availability, technical requirements, etc. Visit our storage location to see what materials may be used, reused, or implemented into the design. 
  • Attend production meetings, tech and dress rehearsals, and designer runs. Inspecting stage entrances and exits to ensure the set is positioned correctly and performing quality assurance on all aspects of the set with the Technical Director. Briefing crew and actors on set safety and explaining how the set operates (if applicable) Ensuring all sets meet safety standards with the Raue Center technical staff. Set Designer may be required to take part in the building process (pending approval from the Technical Director). 
  • All designers will need to participate in strike, immediately following the final performance (Sunday, June 29th) 

 

Important Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: High School Edition dates: 

Auditions & Rehearsal Dates: Auditions & Rehearsal Dates: March 17th – June 29th, 2025 There will be time off during this long process and we will work around things like Spring Break, Prom, Graduation, end of school year events. Rehearsals will begin with perhaps 2 - 3 times a week and then gradually move into more nights as we get closer to the summer. Show Dates: Thursday, June 26 @ 7 PM | Friday, June 20, 27 @ 8 PM| Saturday, June 21, 28 @ 2 PM & 7 PM | Sunday, June 22, 29 @ 2 PM
