Disney announced that Mayor Michael McGinn has proclaimed today as "Oz The Great and Powerful" Day in the city of Seattle, Wash., in honor of Disney's fantastical adventure opening in theaters across the U.S. tomorrow, March 8.

Fox Valley Repertory continues their 2013 theater series with the 1950's with Stuart Ross's hit, Forever Plaid. Directed by Brandon Bruce with Music Direction by Jeffrey Poindexter, performances will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage on March 28 through May 19, 2013 (4051 E. California Shakespeare Theater today announced the cast of its season-opening production, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose, by Richard Montoya and developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney. Helmed by Cal Shakes Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone, the production will run at the Bruns Amphitheater from May 29 through June 23. The 2010 world premiere of American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose at Oregon Shakespeare Festival was the first show in the company's history to be extended due to popular demand; the New York Times deemed the play (In its recent Yale Rep production), "a lovable hodgepodge of references, historical and pop-cultural, with a deadly serious message at its heart."

Critically acclaimed Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kim Richey will embark on the first leg of her U.S. tour in support of her seventh album, Thorn In My Heart, beginning March 22 in Chicago. The Federico Garcia Lorca Foundation announced today the largest-ever festival in North America celebrating the work of Federico Garcia Lorca, who is often described as the most influential Spanish poet and playwright of the last century. "Lorca in New York: A Celebration" (April 5- July 21) features more than two dozen events at venues throughout Manhattan, many of which will mine an aspect of Lorca's classic work, Poet in New York. Anchored by a world-premiere exhibition at The New York Public Library (NYPL) and timed to the release of Farrar, Straus and Giroux's new, enhanced edition of Poet in New York, the festival marks the first time in more than 25 years that the city will pay tribute to Lorca on a grand scale.

The Metropolitan Opera and Le Poisson Rouge announced details for "An Evening with Nico Muhly, Two Boys, and other works," two concerts at Le Poisson Rouge on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Three Metropolitan Opera singers-Paul Appleby, Isabel Leonard, and Jennifer Zetlan-and noted violist Nadia Sirota will perform at the event. Muhly will host and perform on piano.

Abby Rosebrock's DIFFERENT ANIMALS will open on April 20th at The Cherry Lane Theater, the show's producers announced today. Rosebrock, an Upright Citizen's Brigade alum, will also star in the show.

The Comedy Pigs, Maryland Ensemble Theatre's sketch and improv troupe, have added a show to their schedule.
