Photo Flash: Beijing Playhouse's OKLAHOMA!

Beijing Playhouse's production of Oklahoma!, the largest locally producEd English-language Broadway theatre in China, closed on June 3. Check out photos from the production below!

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most famous showstopper set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre, featuring such classic songs as Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’, Surrey with the Fringe on the Top, and Kansas City. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background as they sing and dance their love story. The Pulitzer Prize winning stage show also won Academy Awards when it was turned into a major motion picture.

This huge musical featured 30 singers and dancers and a crew of more than 80.

Directed by David Peck with musical director Beth Kerzee, the show featured choreography by Emma Orr, costume designs by April Qi, set designs by Gareth Repton and work by props master Ellen Lickman. Subtitles coordinator is Sid Gulinick, and assistant directors are Peter Fox, Christina Liao, Karim Oyarzabal, with assistant musical director Tanya Davies.

Aunt Eller was played by Stephannie Tebow, Curly by Yoad Bar-Noy, Laurey by Emily Umhoefer, Ike Skidmore by Michael Gralapp, Fred by Elmer Reyes, Slim by Marc De Beer and Will Parker by Matt Cool. The rest of the cast and dancers are Robert Bruce Crow III, Emma Orr, Tiziano Kirchner, Stephanie Neylon, Helen Zhang, Rachel Guo, Robin Melinda Koob, Amy Wang, Zhang Lute, Zhang Miao, Kitta Hirvensalo, Lia Jansson, Sylvia Gunawan, Giulia Ferrante, Diana Hu, Mandy Chung, Rachel Cho, Charlotte Han, Chris Verrill, Gregory Allen, Deng Nian Nian, Kitta Hirvensalo, Diana Hu, Rachel Guo, Lia Jansson, Ryan Plyer, Sylvian Tilahimena, Herman Ng and Rex Chen.
