Experience an electrifying evening as we honor Shakespeare and the 125th Anniversary of DC native, Duke Ellington through a world premiere by Silas Farley set to Duke Ellington’s Shakespearean Suite "Such Sweet Thunder". Timeless tales are brought to life through the artistry and captivating movement on the stage. Iconic pas de deux’s by Sir Kenneth MacMillan ("Romeo & Juliet") and Sir Frederick Ashton ("The Dream") will delight balletomanes and newcomers alike. Brett Ishida returns to TWB with her captivating work when shall we three meet again invoking the opening line of "Macbeth". Silas Farley’s Dowland Dances, originally choreographed and premiered by TWB, featuring the music of Elizabethan composer John Dowland as performed by Sting will return to the stage. This performance is presented as part of the citywide Shakespeare Everywhere Festival.
