Johannes Brahms: Piano Quartet (orch. Schoenberg) Superstar maestro, composer, and Kennedy Center Honoree Michael Tilson Thomas (known to loyal fans as “MTT”) makes a grand return to the Concert Hall! Always a champion of contemporary music, MTT opens the program with Olly Wilson’s Shango Memory, inspired by the Nigerian god of thunder and lightning. Orion Weiss, regarded as a “brilliant pianist” (The New York Times) with “powerful technique and exceptional insight” (The Washington Post), makes his NSO debut performing Mozart. MTT rounds off the program with Schoenberg’s beautiful orchestration of Brahms’ Piano Quartet.
