The annual Cabaret Convention concert series has begun. The shows continue tonight and tomorrow at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Last night, the convention opened with songs with music by Charles Strouse (Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, Applause, etc.). It was a treat.

Gracious and groovy, singer Sheila Jordan remains a jazz fan's delight, decade after decade. Her October 16th concert was lovely.

Masae Ebata: Playing Elphaba in the Osaka run of Shiki Theatre Company’s musical 'Wicked' (Click here to read Review: 'Wicked' - THE MAGIC RETURNS TO OSAKA by SHIKI THEATRE COMPANY-). Masae joined Shiki Theatre Company in 2005 after passing the audition. She made her stage debut in 'The Lion King,' later performing as Nala in both the Japan and Korea productions. Her major roles include Elphaba in 'Wicked', Donna Sheridan in 'Mamma Mia!,' Aida in 'Aida,' and Grizabella in 'CATS.' 'Wicked' reimagines the classic 'The Wizard of Oz' from the perspectives of two witches, Elphaba and Glinda. The musical is a grand spectacle, featuring Grammy-winning music and magnificent stage designs, continuing to captivate fans of all ages.

This was a richly rewarding experience. Bravo!

Plastic Jeezus: Leave Them Wanting Less, a musical comedy by Simon and Aaron, is an hour of the duo playing ukuleles and singing, all while keeping a deadpan expression on their face.

Bay Street Theater delivers a dazzling performance of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, The Musical thrillingly closing out their amazing 2024 season. Directed with flair by Gerry McIntyre, this fan-favorite, running through September 1st at the renowned Sag Harbor venue, promises an evening of uproarious entertainment that you won’t want to miss.

The Ringwald production will rehearse for a week and then offer 4 performances. The actors will be staged and moved and will be on-book. Performances will be August 23-26, 2024 at The Ringwald Theatre inside of Affirmations in Ferndale.

Lisa Simone gave a magnificent performance.

Linda Eder is a talent so magnificent, she doesn't seem real. Song after song, with a constant sparkle in her eye, Eder drops to the lowest lows and soars to the highest heights with ease. To be in a room with that voice is a privilege. One moment, her rich tones carry you away; the next, they break your heart.

A jam-packed evening of sensational music.
