In July 1967, a wave of civil disturbances devasted Detroit and sparked an exodus of white residents and businesses to the suburbs. One year later, in the stately neighborhood of Detroit’s Palmer Park, two neighboring professional couples, one black and one white, work determinedly to keep their community viable. Powerful forces -- economic, societal, and political -- threaten to destroy their dream. Told with sensitive artistry and keen insight, this moving and provocative story still reverberates throughout the neighborhoods of Detroit and its suburbs today.
