ROOS VAN JOU MOND at Kalk Bay Theatre

About twelve years ago Dutch artist Niki Romijn fell in love with the poems of Ingrid Jonker. This admiration resulted in two CDs and the theatre show “Roos van jou mond” that toured The Netherlands for three years. In 2008 Niki Romijn and bass player Erik Robaard were invited to come to SA to perform at the Voorkamerfest in Darling. This year it will be 80 years ago that Ingrid Jonker was born. To commemorate this event Niki Romijn and Erik Robaard return to SA for a special tribute tour in and around Cape Town.

“Roos van jou Mond” is a musical celebration of an iconic South African writer. With her expressive voice and inspired interpretation Niki Romijn makes the poems of Ingrid Jonker even more intense and heart warming. By sharing her personal thoughts with the audience, she adds another dimension to the words.
