Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist Quiara Alegria Hudes takes a poignant look at the way war permeates young men's lives in a play spanning three generations of the same Puerto Rican-American family. Elliot is a Marine Corps hero back from Iraq with an injured leg and a Purple Heart. His Pop was wounded in Vietnam; his flute-playing Grandpop fought in Korea. In a fugue-like form, different wars and different tales are strung together as Ginny, his mother, seeks to reconcile the disparate parts and heal emotional wounds. Hudes' spare, intense, and poetically resonant play speaks to the personal cost of war across the ages.

Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside and American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity ensemble, present the return of the critically-acclaimed It's a Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago!, directed by Marty Higginbotham, now at its new venue: the mainstage of the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Vinnie Lacey, executive director of the Chicago Fringe Festival has announced the 2013 design contest winner is Alex Kostiw of Chicago. The design will appear on all marketing and promotional materials for the 2013 Chicago Fringe Festival, August 29 - September 8. The fourth annual Chicago Fringe Festival takes place at various locations throughout Jefferson Park, a new neighborhood location in Fringe's history. The Fringe also recently held their lottery for theatre companies and individuals to be included in the 2013 Festival, a complete schedule of performances and locations will be announced in July.
