Juke box musicals are stage theatrical presentations in which a majority of the compositions were written before the presentation was conceived, rather than being original music conceived for that show.  They tend to be long on songs and short on a well-conceived plot.

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) concludes its 62nd season with a musical celebration of country legend Patsy Cline in Always…Patsy Cline, performing in the company's intimate and audience-friendly home at the Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square, through May 19, 2024. Check out production photos here!

Circle Theatre continues their 69th season with Always...Patsy Cline. Circle Theatre’s first live musical production of 2021 will take place on the lawn of the Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of Aquinas College, from June 3-20.

Firebrand Theatre has launched its 2019-20 season with a limited engage ment of ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE, featuring Artistic Director Harmony France and Christina Hall, who have both previously played the titular music legend. France and Hall will alternate in the roles of Patsy Cline and Louise Seger – so if you love the show, come see it again with the cast flipped!

Opening Night for Virginia Stage Company's Season 40 opening production Always…Patsy Cline will take place on Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30pm, with a preview performance on Tuesday, September 18. Written by Ted Swindley and directed by Amy Jones, who also directed the Season 39 hit musical Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash, this production returns to Virginia Stage Company nearly 20 years later.

Theater is a business built on fantasy. We attend productions with suspended disbelief in an effort to step into a world different than our own, and yet, some of the most groundbreaking theatrical works are grounded in historical reference. Some of these shows are on my list of personal favorites, and some get added later, including BDT Stage's latest production, Always…Patsy Cline.

As I hear it, The Palace in Georgetown was due to produce Grease in the spot where LOVE ALWAYS, PATSY CLINE resides now. All I'll say about that is, thank goodness it worked out this way! This production is adorable and entertaining from start to finish. I smiled through most of the show, and even leaned into the fairly loose premise. Story line is not the intent of most jukebox musicals, but this one fared relatively well in the hands of its Director/Musical Director/Conductor/Bassist Lannie Hiboldt. Lannie also did the set design. Generally, this could be seen as overextending one's self, but it Lannie's case, it worked out nicely.

Cortland Repertory Theatre presents their first mainstage production at 'CRT Downtown', the newly renovated arts center in downtown Cortland. Chosen for this inaugural production is a revival of one of the most successful shows ever staged at CRT, 'Always...Patsy Cline'. Written byTed Swindley, this heart-warming, family-friendly musical features some of Patsy Cline's greatest hits including 'Crazy', 'Walkin' After Midnight', 'I Fall to Pieces' and many more. Always...Patsy Cline christens the Manatee Players' Kiwanis Studio Theater stage as the first full theatrical production in the new intimate space at the Manatee Performing Arts Center. President George HW Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush honored the Ogunquit Playhouse by attending yesterday's (June 3rd) Matinee performance of Always, Patsy Cline, now playing through June 16. Sally Struthers (as Louise) and Carter Calvert (as Patsy Cline) welcomed them backstage during intermission, where President and Mrs. Bush exalted both leading lady's performances. The former President and First Lady "loved" the show, and the cast, musicians and audience members loved seeing them as well. Check out the photo below!

Florida Studio Theatre brings back the popular summer hit Always...Patsy Cline for a special two week limited engagement. Patsy Cline was the original cross-over sensation with her acclaimed hit 'Walkin' After Midnight' in 1957 (#2 on the Country Charts and #12 on the Pop Charts) and followed in the early 60s with 'I Fall to Pieces,' 'Crazy' and 'She's Got You.' These songs and 24 others will pay tribute to the one-of-a-kind Patsy Cline. Cline's rise to legendary stardom is told through personal letters shared with her best friend and biggest fan, Louise. From her performance at the Grand Ole Opry to her tragic death in 1963, Patsy Cline will 'always' have a place in country music and with music enthusiasts across multiple genres.
