A success of Brazilian musical theater in recent years, the show Vinganca (Vengeance) returns in June at Teatro Raul Cortez in Sao Paulo. After nine years, the cult musical by Anna Toledo with songs by Lupicinio Rodrigues returns in a new house and with a renewed cast

The show tells the story of four young musical theater students who dream of stardom. Bringing themes such as racism, fatphobia and social prejudice, the saga of the protagonists takes place in the fight against unattainable standards and profiles imposed by the musical theater industry. After years of having their dreams explored and frustrated, they decide to travel to New York to try their big break and maybe fix Broadway!

After a long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Digital Press Highlight Award (DID) resumed its activities in honor and recognition of the great highlights of Brazilian musical theater in the city of Sao Paulo. The ceremony, which held its 4th edition announced, the winners, celebrating the 16 new shows nominated between Nov. 2019/Dec. 2021.

The most popular work by Joao Cabral Melo Neto returns to Teatro Tuca, where it premiered in 1965. The new production is directed by Elias Andreato and brings together, on stage, 13 young talents from various Brazilian cities, and 5 musicians, who will set the tone for the compositions of Chico Buarque, under the musical direction of Marco Franca

San Diego Junior Theatre, the nation's longest-running youth theatre program, is proud to share two fantastic summer shows with the community. Both Pippi Longstocking and The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcase San Diego performers, musicians and technicians all ranging in age from 8 to 18.

Avant Bard presents A Misanthrope, a world premiere adaptation of Moliere's The Misanthrope by Manhattan-based playwright Matt Minnicino, directed by Megan Behm in her Avant Bard debut.

Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the tragic 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, this docudrama combines fact and fiction to illuminate the dark realities of adolescence. Weaving together excerpts of real interviews with parents, survivors, and community leaders and powerful characterizations of contemporary teens, columbinus thoughtfully explores the Columbine shooting and the conversations that continue to this day. The New York Post hailed columbinus as 'a powerful and important piece about the churning rage that's all too likely to bubble over again.'

San Diego Junior Theatre, with a mission to provide engaging, innovative, high-quality theatre education and productions for children of all cultural heritages, ages, abilities and levels of interest continues its 70th Anniversary Season with a production of Mr. Popper's Penguins, directed by Ricardo Valenzuela. Mr. Popper's Penguins is based on the novel by Richard and Florence Atwater. Books and Lyrics are by Jody Davidson and music by Brett Schrier. The production will showcase the work of San Diego Junior Theatre youth performers and youth technicians, ranging in age from 8 to18. The production runs from June 29th - July 15th.

With direction and performance by Miguel Falabella, the revival of The Producers will be in short season at Teatro Procopio Ferreira in Sao Paulo. Then the production follows to Rio de Janeiro, when it opens on July 13, at Teatro Vivo Rio.

Based on the hit 1990 romantic drama film of the same name, GHOST, a timeless fantasy about the power of love, had its Brazilian premiere at Teatro Bradesco in Sao Paulo. The plot centers on lovers Sam and Molly, who are attacked as they are returning to their apartment. When Sam dies he becomes caught between the real world and the next. Molly is in danger and Sam cannot leave her. A phony storefront medium, Oda Mae Brown, helps Sam to get in touch with Molly to warn her.

Cortland Repertory Theatre kicks off their 44th season at the Little York Pavilion in Preble with the theatre's premiere production of the hysterical new comedy Always a Bridesmaid, written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. Performances will run from tonight, June 3rd, and June 13th with evening performances at 7:30 PM. Matinees are available on June 5th, 7th and 10th at 2:00 PM. Lyric Opera of Kansas City continues its exhilarating 57th season with the Kansas City premiere of composer Kevin Puts' 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winning opera, Silent Night, beginning tomorrow, February 21 and continuing February 25 & 27 and March 1 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
