Chicago, the second production in the Shenandoah Summer Musical Theater 2013 season, was stuffed with star turns by the talented leads of the production, but the production as a whole lacked a little of the conventional "Razzle Dazzle" one would expect from the sexy and scandalous 1975 musical.

As part of it's 100th Season, the DuPont Theatre is pleased to present its first Broadway and Beyond production, Mitzi…Razzle Dazzle! My Life Behind the Sequins, for four (4) performances only. It opens on Friday evening, Emmy Award winning and Golden Globe nominated film and television legend Mitzi Gaynor lights up the stage in Razzle Dazzle! My Life Behind the Sequins, an intimate evening of laughs, love and music which critics have called "sensational," "hysterically funny", "enormously entertaining" and "a total star-spangled package of energy and joy."

It's been a Broadway favorite since it's 1975 opening, and the Academy Award winning 2012 movie version did little to detract from its fame, but if you weren't fascinated with Chicago's musical tale of sex, lies, and corruption before now, Shadowbox Live's stellar cast will definitely give you enough of the ol' "Razzle Dazzle" to make you a fan.

Tuesday night at DPAC was a good news/bad news situation. The bad news: the much-publicized Christie Brinkley was not able to perform her role of Roxie Hart in Chicago, due to illness. The good news: Bianca Marroquin was flown in from NYC, right from the Broadway production of Chicago to fill in for Brinkley. The best news: Marroquin is brilliant! She absolutely oozes star quality from every pore of her body, and the audience forgot, within seconds of Marroquin's entrance, that they were not seeing the person they thought they would see in the role.
