A Taste of Iceland returns to Denver September 26-29 giving locals a unique opportunity to experience what life is like in a Nordic country over 3,600 miles away. The four-day event celebrates the vibrant culture of Iceland, a country that has become a hotbed for emerging music and innovative cuisine. A Taste of Iceland made its Denver debut in 2012, and was met with excitement from music fans and foodies alike. Based on last year's success, the event's organizers are once again partnering with KGNU 88.5 FM & 1390 AM and Coohills restaurant to showcase the best Iceland has to offer.

Two years into its second half-century, La MaMa, under the artistic direction of Mia Yoo, continues the omnivorous work of its founder, the late Ellen Stewart. The institution's fall 2013 season is a mixture of established artists and forms La MaMa has long supported (Lee Breuer, Dario D'Ambrosi, puppetry) and celebrated artists and programs new to La MaMa (Irina Brook, Chiori Miyagawa and Alice Reagan, Pascal Rambert, Maureen Fleming, Dan Fishback and Max Steele, and many others). LotusEater are a four piece, trip/rock band who will perform at the Roscommon Arts Centre gallery tonight, August 17 at 7 p.m. as part of their ongoing collaboration with artist Aoibheann Greenan. The bands performance will incorporate the costumes and props that have up until that point acted as sculptural assemblages in the gallery space. The band will activate the works within the space and will be the closing act for Greenan's solo exhibition in the gallery space.

La MaMa presents Maureen Fleming in the New York premiere of B. MADONNA. Created, choreographed, and performed by Fleming, it features text by Tony Award winner David Henry Hwang, music by Philip Glass performed live by pianist Bruce Brubaker, original accordion by Guy Klucevsek, Taiko drumming by Kaoru Watanabe and three-dimensional video projections by longtime collaborator Christopher Odo. Iceland Naturally, a council of Icelandic brands, today announced the launch of its New Year's in July Photo Contest, calling for entrants to submit photos of themselves enjoying fireworks on the Fourth of July for a chance to win a trip to celebrate New Year's Eve in Reykjavik.
