Concord Jazz Artist Spencer Day Begins Residency at Upright Cabaret 3/18, 3/25 and 4/1

Spencer Day announces his residency at the iconic Upright Cabaret on March 11th, 18th, 25th and April 1st. Drawing vocal comparisons to Michael Buble and John Mayer, and his compositions to those of Cole Porter, Paul Simon and Rufus Wainwright, Spencer Day's residency will feature performances from his adventurous album Vagabond (Concord Records), currently a Billboard Top 10 Contemporary Jazz Album, as well as past favorites from previous releases. Through his residency at The Upright Cabaret, Spencer will join an esteemed group of diverse talent who have played at the venue including American Idol's Adam Lambert, Glee star Lea Michele, Neil Patrick Harris, Grammy Nominee Taylor Dayne and many more.

Last Wednesday night, some of the cast members from 'ROCK OF AGES' came uptown - 2 blocks! - to New World Stages for some HOT TOXIC LOVE - and got it when they visited THE TOXIC AVENGER, the award-winning musical starring another 'American Idol' finalist. After the show, both casts met onstage for the obligatory photo - or three.

Move over, Bloomberg; the mayoral race just got a whole lot tighter as Erin Leigh Peck takes on the role of Mayor Babs Belgoody, along with other memorable characters, in The Toxic Avenger, the Outer Critics' Circle 2009 pick for Best New Off-Broadway Musical. Peck will be playing the multiple roles currently played by Nancy Opel, who originated the roles in the world premiere production at George Street Playhouse, while Opel is on vacation. Peck has been understudying all female roles since the show began performances at New York's New World Stages (340 W. 50th St) in March of 2009.

On Thursday, October 1st, after the 200th performance of THE TOXIC AVENGER at New World Stages, some celebrity guests who were in the house took a trip backstage to congratulate the cast and crew. Broadway couple Andy Karl and Orfeh greeted Dustin Diamond (Screech from TV's 'Saved By The Bell') and his lady friend as they all took the trip back to cheer everybody on their auspicious milestone. Producer Tom Polum was on hand to raise a glass of 'TOXIC' punch and to thank everyone on a 200 'TOX-A-RI-FIC' shows.

Some special guests were attending the Sunday, September matinee of THE TOXIC AVENGER. Actor TONY PLANA who plays Betty's (AMERICA FERRARA) father on the ABC-TV hit 'UGLY BETTY' was there with his wife, actress ADA MARIS and their daughter, ISABEL (PLANA). Actress ANITA GILLETTE (who appeared in FLAMINGO COURT at New World Stages) was also there. So, all made a bee-line backstage to pay a 'between show' visit to the cast and band and to tell them what a TOX-A-RI-FIC time they had!
