Patricia Olson Releases New Picture Book TALL JAY

One spring, Mr. & Mrs. Jay teach their young chicks to fly. But one chick is different from the other chicks. His legs grow and grow until he is so tall, he can't fly. His parents call him Tall Jay. When he is teased and laughed at by his siblings, Tall Jay runs away. He is sad, forlorn and lonely as he faces a strange world all alone. Along the way, he meets some interesting critters and finds a friend at last. His unusual friend takes Tall Jay to a place that changes his life forever. Tall Jay can't fly, but he soon discovers a talent that makes him very special!

Still, no one has quite the same twisted take on childhood classics as author Jon Scieszka. He doesn't just reinvent fairy tales, he blows them to bits. In his world, the Ugly Duckling really is an ugly duckling, and she's totally okay with that, thank you very much.
