In March 2011, Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone's joyfully irreverent, soulfully blasphemous, and wholly scandalous comedy THE BOOK OF MORMON took Broadway by storm, going on to win 9 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Score. The musical quickly developed a ravenous parish of fans that simply couldn't get enough of the bawdy spectacle, and left many around the nation counting the days until the First National Tour kicked off. After a short two-and-a-half year wait, Houston audiences are getting their chance to experience the production, and judging by last night's reaction, we couldn't be more enthusiastic or pleased. Now holding a coveted spot as one of the best musicals I have ever seen, this show was definitely worth the wait!

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has announced a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which begins Tuesday, September 3 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston and plays a limited two week engagement through Sunday, September 15. In Houston, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office before each performance, making a limited number of tickets available at $25 apiece, cash only.

Today, August 17, THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will celebrate 1,000 performances on Broadway. The production opened to rave reviews on March 24, 2011 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street).

The producers of THE BOOK OF MORMON and The Nederlander Organization announced today five additional weeks of performances have been added to the originally announced return engagement. The show will begin performances January 21 at Hollywood Pantages Theatre and play through March 16, 2014.

On Broadway, The Book of Mormon has broken the Eugene O'Neill Theatre's house record 44 times. The National Tour of The Book of Mormon has continually broken house records across the country since opening in Denver in the summer of 2012. The Chicago production of The Book of Mormon holds the house record at the Bank of America Theatre. The Book of Mormon opened last night at the Prince of Wales Theatre to mixed reviews with ticket sales of £9 million.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Tony nominee Rory O'Malley played his final performance in THE BOOK OF MORMON on January 27th. He'll be replaced by Matt Loehr, who takes over as Elder McKinley tonight, January 29.

Rory O'Malley has announced on his Facebook page today that he will be exiting the Tony-award winning musical BOOK OF MORMON. According to the post, his last performance will be on Sunday, January 27th.

Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presents SAINT JOAN - George Bernard Shaw's most celebrated play -tonight, December 17 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.

According to Variety, Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman recently commented on a potential movie version of 'South Park' creators' Trey Parker and Matt Stone's hit Broadway musical The Book of Mormon. Viacom owns Comedy Central, which airs 'South Park'.
