"Be Brave!" and "Just Say Yes!" are two of the rules of collaboration fifth grade students follow when they take part in the Los Angeles Master Chorale's Voices Within program. The Fall series of Voices Within concerts featuring students performing songs they have written will take place on Wednesday, November 14 at Carlos Santana Arts Academy and Friday, November 16 at Hooper Avenue Elementary School.

Winner of the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance, The Crossing, led by conductor Donald Nally, performs of arms and the man on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at New York's Park Avenue Armory. The evenings feature the 24-voice ensemble of The Crossing with three cellists (Thomas Mesa, Arlen Hlusko, and Sujin Lee) and will explore the timeless themes of nationalism and war while navigating personal stories of joy and despair.

From July 7 to August 19, Napa Valley Museum Yountville will present Randy Strong - Glass Master, a unique collection of artist Randy Strong's legendary 45-year career in the historic American Art Glass movement. View Strong's work from early groundbreaking glass techniques to his present one-of-a-kind veiled sculptures. Many sculptural works will be available for sale, with a portion of proceeds benefiting our arts and education programs. The Opening Celebration will be on Saturday, July 14 at 4 pm, and is free for Museum Members; $10 for Non-Members. An artist talk on Sunday, August 5 from 2 to 4 pm is included with Museum Admission. Randy will also participate in a free Family Fun event on August 11, from 11 am to 1 pm.

Conductor and Composer David Newman is known for creating the music for nearly 100 films, including "Serenity" (2005), "Ice Age" (2002), "Anastasia" (1997), "Matilda" (1996) and many others. He comes from a dynasty of composers, the Newman family being the most nominated for Academy Awards, all 92 for film scoring, arrangement or original song. Jon Burlingame is the nation's leading writer on the subject of music for film and television, and has recently written about the composers and scores in "Phantom Thread," "Black Panther" and "Star Trek: Discovery." He is a lecturer at the University of Southern California, a best-selling author and a regular writer for Variety magazine. Dean Parisot is a film and television director who has recently worked on shows such as "Santa Clarita Diet," "Grace and Frankie" and the pilot for the new NBC dramedy "Good Girls." Parisot is also known for directing the films "Galaxy Quest," "RED 2" and "Fun with Dick and Jane."
