Witness an electrifying portrait of one of history's most revered and revolutionary legends in George Bernard Shaw's timeless classic SAINT JOAN. Directed by ArtsWest's Artistic Director Mathew Wright, performances will run March 12, Thursday through Sunday, until April 5. Tickets can be purchased immediately at artswest.org.
The cast of SAINT JOAN will feature Porscha Shaw as JOAN, who has previously been seen in THE LAST WORLD OCTOPUS WRESTLING CHAMPION (ArtsWest), EDWARD TULANE (Seattle Children's Theatre), and HOODOO LOVE (Sound Theatre). On her role as Joan, Porscha says, "I discover new things about the script every time I look at it, but my favorite part about the script is that Joan has no subtext. Joan is the first character I've read and played who spoke exactly what they meant in the moment. She tells you her objectives in every scene. Joan is a pure character and I'm excited to shed light on that part."
Fiery and timeless, Shaw's masterpiece shines a fierce light on the limits of an individual in a society dominated by political and religious forces. Presented in a new, stripped-back staging, prepare to see Joan's incendiary life shine brighter than ever.
Staged in the round by Mathew Wright, ArtsWest's production of SAINT JOAN has been adapted and pared down by Corinne Magin. Accompanied by an intimate and composed scenic design, audiences will enjoy excellent views of the stage from all four sides of the theater while it's enlivened by SAINT JOAN'S cast.
Featuring José Amador (ON?'RUS, Café Nordo) as ARCHBISHOP/INQUISITOR, Devin Bannon (ALIEN/ANGEL, Café Nordo) as CHARLES/STEWARD/CHAPLAIN, Lee Yang (DEATH OF A SALESMAN, Short Order Theatre) as DUNOIS/POLLY/LA TREMOILLE, Jose Abaoag (AN OCTOROON, ArtsWest) as WARWICK /BAUDRICOURT/SOLDIER/ BLUEBEARD, and Nik Doner (OFFICE HOUR, ArtsWest) as CAUCHON/LA HIRE, SAINT JOAN takes a dynamic approach with cast members playing multiple roles.Videos
