Ruthless! The Musical at Patio Playhouse

San Marcos, CA, August 27, 2024 – Luminary Arts -- San Diego’s North County premier innovative theater company -- concludes its dynamic 2024 Summer Season with a vibrant production of Ruthless! The Musical. Following the successful run of Finding Nemo Kids and Heathers (Teen Edition), Luminary Arts is showcasing this saucy and scintillating musical at Patio Playhouse in Escondido.

Outrageously spoofing Broadway musicals from Gypsy to Mame and classic films such as All About Eve and The Bad Seed, written by Joel Paley & Marvin Laird Ruthless! The Musical has become a modern cult classic.

Debuting off-Broadway in 1992 -- responsible for discovering young performers Britney Spears and Natalie Portman -- this all-female musical tells the story of Judy, a naive 1950s housewife, and her psychopathic 8-year-old daughter, Tina. Tina, driven by her manager Sylvia, will stop at nothing—including murder—to secure the lead role in her school play.

As the plot thickens in Act II, Judy’s quest for fame takes an unexpected turn when she learns from her adoptive mother that her biological mother was a celebrated actress. Judy’s ensuing journey to Broadway stardom promises a riveting and hilarious conclusion.
