Good Company Theatre is happy to present The Children, by Olivier Award-winning British playwright Lucy Kirkwood. From the confines of a small cottage near the English coast, retired physicists Hazel and Robin go about their daily lives. It took some time to settle in after the nuclear disaster but now the pair live as comfortably as possible. When Hazel, an old friend and colleague, shows up after nearly forty years, the trio confronts a future of their making."Lucy Kirkwood has a very sly way about her playwriting," says Good Company Theatre Founder Alicia Washington. "The Children can feel dark and full of intrigue in one moment, and then turns into something more poignant and tender.""Even when there's an underlying feeling of threat and unease, humans have this amazing ability to find humor, joy, and acceptance," reflects Director Nicole Kinney. "That is what we see in this play."The Children features performances by Colleen Baum (The Foreigner, /I/), Kevin Ireland (Cabaret, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), and Camille Van Wagoner (Chicago, Ill Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers). It is directed by Nicole Finney (Eurydice, The Nether). This one act play contains some adult language, and mild adult content. It is recommended for audiences age 13 and over. Tickets are available for $20 at www.goodcotheatre.com, or at the box office before each show. There is an ASL performance of this show on Saturday, May 11.
