Immediately following their RI premiere production of Aziza Barnes’s BLKS and the World Premiere of Aaron Blanck’s Hanukkah Schmanukkah, Burbage Theatre Co continues their 12th Season with Playhouse Creatures by April De Angelis, directed by MJ Daly. This marks Burbage’s second co-production with WomensWork Theatre Collaborative, following last year’s highly acclaimed production of The Oldest Profession by Paula Vogel. Playhouse Creatures will be presented for 13 performances from February 1 through February 25 at Burbage Theatre Co’s Wendy Overly Studio Theatre. PLAYHOUSE CREATURES In partnership with WomensWork Theatre Collaborative By April De Angelis (February 1 - 25 ) "An immense talent and witty sensitive dialogue...Thoroughly entertaining." — Tribune The year is 1669 a bawdy and troublesome time. Theaters have just reopened after seventeen years of Puritan suppression. There is a surge in dramatic writing and the first English actresses appear on stage. Playhouse Creatures focuses on five of the most famous (Nell Gwyn, Elizabeth Farley, Rebecca Marshall, Doll Common and Mary Betterton) to provide a moving and often comic account of the precarious lives of Restoration actresses. "Flesh and blood heroines...move and inspire...a few more female role models stamped firmly on your heart." — Time Out New York "With delicious absurd extracts from the heroic repertory and frantic dressing room scenes, the prevailing tone is comic but you are not allowed to forget the gutter waiting to reclaim these glittering figures." — The Independent ABOUT THE PRODUCTION ENSEMBLE Lynne Collinson, Doll Lorraine Guerra, Nell Gywn Rae Mancini, Mrs. Marshall Paula Faber, Mrs. Betterton Autumn Jefferson, Mrs. Farley PRODUCTION CREW MJ Daly, Director Sydney Davey, Stage Manager Sharon Carptentier, Assistant Director Audrey Visscher, Assistant Stage Manager Riley Nedder, Costume Design Trevor Elliott, Set Design Andrew Iacovelli, TD Brittany Costello, ATD/Props Jeff Church, Lynne Collinson, Producers PLAYHOUSE CREATURES CALENDAR OF PERFORMANCES Thursday February 1 at 7:30pm Preview Friday February 2 at 7:30pm Preview Saturday February 3 at 7:30pm Pay-What-You-Will/PRESS Preview Sunday February 4 at 2:00pm PRESS Preview Friday February 9 at 7:30pm OPENING NIGHT Saturday February 10 at 7:30pm Sunday February 11 at 2:00pm Friday February 16 at 7:30pm Saturday February 17 at 7:30pm Sunday February 18 at 2:00pm Friday February 23 at 7:30pm Saturday February 24 at 7:30pm Sunday February 25 at 2:00pm TICKET POLICY — “The best bang for your theatrical buck in the Ocean State.” — Warwick Beacon Preview Performances — $15 General Admission — $30 Students — $15 High School Students — Any and all rush tickets are available to High School students for FREE
