24H2M Returns!

We had so much fun the first time, we are doing it again! Four teams of five local artists get 24-hours to create an original devised work with just a few ingredients. Wacky, fun, imaginative and hilarious! A masterclass in devising!

24H2M is Portland’s first 24-hour devising festival! What is devising? In its simplest terms, devising is a theatre practice in which an ensemble comes together without a script and begins creating a performance based on their ideas, experiences, imagination and collaborative process.

Hand2Mouth has a long history of devising with a focus on sharing community stories and the challenges of today. With this festival, we bring together a wonderful community of artists to bring their unique talents to the stage.

This year in chapter 2 of 24H2M, during our banned books and censorship season, the 20 participating artists will be asked to create a work using various provided ingredients, which may include a banned book, a prop, a famous quote, a work of visual art or other items. All groups will receive these ingredients the day before performance. Over the course of 24-hours, they will begin creating a short piece to be performed on the evening of November 23rd!

Aside from those few ingredients, artists are given the space to create works of their own devising. It’s a fun night full of surprises created by some of your favorite local artists!
