“Les Miserables” move over. The newest epic musical is here! The first time ever in the Philadelphia region, Upper Darby Summer Stage tackles this emotional and extremely human story, featuring adult performers ages 18 to 28.
Summer Stage’s 2017 Mainstage production is based on the Victor Hugo novel and features the Oscar-nominated score from the Disney animated classic. Despite the Disney label, this is no fairy tale. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is a powerful musical drama featuring a gorgeous, spine-tingling score created by musical legends Allen Menken and Steven Schwartz. Adding to the spectacle are the splendid voices that combine to make the onstage adult choir.
Audiences will be drawn into the moving tale of the scorned bell-ringer Quasimodo, the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda, and the sinister Archdeacon Frollo who adopted the deformed Quasimodo as a favor to his dying brother.
Not for younger children, "Hunchback" will offer a thrilling that audiences will not forget!
Free parking. Call ahead for wheel chair accessible seating.
