Bach (1685 - 1750)Tickets $15Virtual broadcast on YouTube with live chat and pre-concert lectureThe concert for singers and strings explores the theme of celebration and hope. The Te Deum is a hymn of praise attributed to St. Ambrose of Milan of the 4th century and is traditionally sung to mark the ends of plagues, wars and anniversaries.Nun komm der Heiden Heiland is an early cantata from Bach's Weimar period from 1714 and marks the beginning of the church's liturgical calendar. Full of spunk, drama and charm, this well loved cantata asks specifically for a blessed new year. The concert will conclude with a celebratory motet by Heinrich Schtz, whose career spanned the trials and tribulations of the Thirty Year War. This work was probably composed to celebrate a peace treaty of 1621.Performers:Soprano: Rebecca Myers, Clara SwartzentruberAlto: Elia SutherlandTenor: Daniel TaylorBass: Daniel SchwartzViolin: Amanda Wolman, Christof RichterViola: Daniela PiersonVioloncello: Eve MillerViolone: Heather Miller LardinOrgan and conductor: Matthew Glandorf
