ARTURO LUIS SORIA is an actor/writer with family roots in Brazil, Italy, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic. This multicultural upbringing has influenced his storytelling tremendously and inspires him to find ways to bring his ancestors to the stage with him.
His solo play, NI MI MADRE, received the Luso-American Scholarship at the DisQuiet International Literary Program in Lisbon, Portugal where he studied under the notable Portuguese-American writer Katherine Vaz. It also had successful runs at Yale Cabaret in 2018 and at Ken Davenport’s inaugural Rave Theatre Festival in the summer of 2019 in NYC, for which he received an Outstanding Performance recognition.
Arturo is currently performing on Broadway in The Inheritance by Matthew Lopez and directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin. Other notable credits include: Tano in the World Premiere of Hit the Wall at Steppenwolf Garage Theatre and off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre. (Hilton Als of The New Yorker likened him to “a young Al Pacino” for his portrayal.) Regionally, he has performed at The Kennedy Center, Yale Rep, The Guthrie Theater, Dallas Theater Center, Victory Gardens Theater, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Milwaukee Rep, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Studio Theatre, and many others.
Arturo holds a BFA from The Theatre School at DePaul University and and MFA from the Yale School of Drama.
