Palm Springs’ THE BENT presents Academy Award® nominee Cathy Moriarty as the ruthless Hollywood powerhouse talent agent Sue Mengers in John Logan’s one-woman, one-act play, “I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers,” directed by Steve Rosenbaum. Fans, theatregoers, entertainment industry peers, and critics alike will be treated to another of Moriarty’s stellar performances, as she appears live on stage for nine performances Friday through Sundays from December 6th to the 22nd at Palm Springs’ only LGBTQ+ theatre!

Moriarty’s rise to fame began with her first feature film role at age 19 in Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull opposite Robert De Niro, where she portrayed Vicki LaMotta, the wife of legendary boxer Jake LaMotta. That Oscar®-nominated performance also garnered the actress nominations for two Golden Globe® Awards, a BAFTA, and critical acclaim worldwide! It was Moriarty’s appearance in Raging Bull that caught the eye of super-agent Sue Mengers, who helped kickstart the career of the young actress. Moriarty’s popularity skyrocketed as demands to showcase her acting talents grew.

Since then, Moriarty has starred in numerous box-office hits spanning many genres, including Casper, The Mambo Kings, Matinee, and Kindergarten Cop. Her huge LGBTQ+ fan base began with her performance in the ensemble Soapdish opposite Robert Downey, Jr., and was cemented by her hysterical, exceptional performance in the 1999 gay teen romantic comedy But I’m A Cheerleader. Known for her distinct, deep, and raspy voice, somewhat similar to that of Mengers, Moriarty has also been a staple in many beloved animations and cartoons.

THE BENT was co-founded two years ago by actor/director Steve Rosenbaum (Artistic Director) and actor/writer Terry Ray (Managing Director) as a non-profit 501(c)(3) theater with the mission of sharing LGBTQ+ stories with Palm Springs’ diverse community. They also shine a light on LGBTQ+ playwrights like John Logan (Moulin Rouge, Red) and hit films like The Aviator, Sweeney Todd, and Skyfall. In just two years, THE BENT has earned 11 Desert Theatre League awards for Best Actor and Supporting Actor across its first 7 plays, along with numerous other acting nominations.

The Bent continues to raise the bar with the perfect casting of Moriarty as the notorious Sue Mengers.
