With beautifully written dialogue and complex characters, Maxwell Anderson's play Saturday’s Children, set in Manhattan, explores themes of love, ambition, and societal pressure not unlike what young couples encounter today in 2023. Directed by First Flight Theatre Company’s Artistic Director Frank Farrell, this staged reading of Anderson's 1927 play is a benefit for the five year old theatre company. The cast of readers includes actors Joseph Bowen* as Willy Sands and Matty, Danny Crawford* as Rims O’Neil, Claudia Egli* as Florrie Sands, Frank Farrell* as The Chauffeur, Denise Alessandria Hurd* as Mrs. Halevy and Mrs. Gorlik, Haley Karlich as Bobby, and Paul Singleton* as Mr. Halevy.    * Indicates actors are members of the Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), the union of professional actors and stage managers.

Maxwell Anderson’s comedy Saturday’s Children had its Broadway debut at the Booth Theatre in New York City on January 26, 1927 and had a healthy run for the time of 310 performances. It featured actors Ruth Gordon, Beulah Bondi and Humphrey Bogart.
