Registration is now open for New York Cares’ 34th annual Winter Wishes program, a beloved holiday tradition that invites volunteers to serve as Wish Granters and create real holiday magic for children and teens across the city who need it most. Granters will be matched with a child or teenager from a family in need and grant their wish of a gift, with a maximum financial commitment of $40. Last year, more than 20,000 gifts were delivered by volunteer Wish Granters—over half of these wishes were fulfilled by corporate sponsors. To participate, register on the New York Cares website by October 31st. Wish Granters will be matched with recipients in November and receive individual digital letters (wishes), then will purchase, wrap, and deliver the gifts by December 9th to one of the associated New York Cares partners, including family shelters, public housing providers, and Title 1 public schools. Additional resources for interested Wish Granters can be found here. New York Cares is the largest volunteer network in the city. Last year, nearly 30,000 New Yorkers made the city a better place by volunteering in New York Cares programs at over 400 nonprofits and schools – improving education, meeting immediate needs, and revitalizing public spaces. New York Cares is at 39 Broadway, 27th Floor, New York, NY.
