Following her critically acclaimed run in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, NYC-based comedian and viral sensation Maria DeCotis is premiering a fresh take on her new one-woman show: EMOTIONALLY UNREASONABLE. Have you ever felt threatened when someone shows you their engagement ring? Have you ever been to a wedding and thought, “these people should NOT be getting married?!” Maria DeCotis has too, except she's the one marrying them. EMOTIONALLY UNREASONABLE is an hour of stand-up and musical comedy about her experience as a professional wedding officiant. In 60 minutes of powerful storytelling, original music, and punchlines you never see coming, she explores power imbalances, sex robots, turning 30, and her unique perspective on relationships. ABOUT MARIA DECOTIS: Maria DeCotis is a NYC based comedian, actress, and writer from Fayetteville, Georgia where she famously Christmas caroled for Big Boi at age 12. She graduated with her BFA in Acting, Cum Laude from Boston University with a concentration in Playwriting, studied Commedia dell'Arte at the Accademia dell’Arte in Italy, and trained at UCB. She has been featured in Rolling Stone, Vogue, New York Magazine, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Times, The Guardian, Today, and many more. Maria recently completed her groundbreaking run during the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival where she starred in the original play LYNN T. WALSH: BEFORE THE DRUGS KICK IN as well as her own one-hour comedy special EMOTIONALLY UNREASONABLE. Her stellar performances in both shows received rave reviews.
