Accordionist, composer and "trailblazing virtuoso", Guy Klucevsek performs his most recent compositions at Spectrum (121 Ludlow, NYC) on Saturday, October 1 at 9 pm. Klucevsek's program features his tributes to those who have inspired him, including the composers Astor Piazzolla, Erik Satie, Nino Rota, and Kurt Weill, among others. For this performance, part of John King's "Born into Flames" series, Klucevsek is joined by Todd Reynolds, violin, Kamala Sankaram, soprano voice, and the pianist Phillip Bush.
The program highlights selections from Guy Klucevsek's forthcoming CD on the Starkland label, "Teetering on the Verge of Normalcy", to be released on September 30, 2016. "Friendship and tributes bind this album together," Sarah Cahill writes in the CD's Introduction. "Compared to his previous work, this heartfelt album has an especially elegiac quality, informed by the loss of comrades and colleagues." Musicians on the album include Todd Reynolds and Kamala Sankaram, who will be joining Guy in performace at Spectrum, along with pianist Alan Bern.
General admission is $15, students and seniors are $10.
