The Roommate, written by Jen Silverman, opens for a limited run of only 6 performances at HATTheatre in RVA's West End, running July 12-21. The Roommate will have its Broadway debut in Sept, but our own production features power house performances from veteran local actors Catherine Shaffner and Kelly Kennedy, where The Odd Couple meets Breaking Bad. In this play, we find Sharon, in her mid-fifties, recently divorced and in need of a roommate to share her Iowa home. Robyn, also in her mid-fifties, needs a place to hide and a chance to start over. But as Sharon begins to uncover Robyn's secrets, they encourage her own deep-seated desire to transform her life completely. During the course of this 90 minute dark comedy, you are taken on a roller-coaster ride as the unexpected brings a combination of emotions where you laugh, you cry, you relate to the realness of it all. It's a comedy with heart and one not to be missed. Featuring Catherine Shaffner as Sharon, Kelly Kennedy as Robyn. Direction & Sound Desgin by Julie Fulcher-Davis, Set & lighting Design by Bill Jenkins. (photo Catherine Shaffner & Kelly Kennedy) Reservations Required, no tickets at the door.
