Lyric Opera of Chicago will hold auditions in February and March for experienced, classically trained singers in all voice categories who seek positions in the company’s choral ensemble for the 2013-2014 season.
Auditions will be held on the following dates in 2013:
PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS
Monday, March 4: 3-6pm
Tuesday, March 5: 5-8pm
Wednesday, March 6: 5-8pm
Thursday, March 7: 3-6pm
Friday, March 8: 5-8pm
Saturday, March 9: 12-3pm (out of town auditionees only)
Please ensure that your materials are received by Monday, February 18, 2013. Applicants must sing a preliminary audition to be considered for the callback auditions.
CALLBACK AUDITIONS (if necessary)
Saturday, March 9: 4-6pm, callbacks

Please include a cover letter that states your first, second, and third choices for audition times as well as a letter of recommendation from a recognized musical authority other than your private voice teacher.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Lyric Opera of Chicago seeks singers in all voice categories who are prepared for a professional career. You are expected to prepare two operatic arias that best demonstrate your vocal ability. One aria, preferably both, must be in a foreign language; however, one aria may be in English if you so choose. Both arias must be memorized. Please be prepared to sight read. The ability to read and memorize music quickly and accurately is a must.
Lyric Opera of Chicago will furnish an accompanist. Youmust provide a legible copy of each aria, in the correct key, for the accompanist.
You are required to prove United States citizenship; permanent residency; or possess, at the time of the audition, legal permission to work in the United States of America during the rehearsal and performance period.
Please note that guests will not be permitted into the audition site.

Musical rehearsals will begin in August 2013, with staging rehearsals beginning in September. A full (tentative) schedule will be provided prior to the commencement of rehearsals. The 2013-2014 performance season runs from October 5, 2013, through March 23, 2014.
SUPPLEMENTARY CHORUS
Musical rehearsals will begin in August 2013, with staging rehearsals beginning in September. Musical rehearsals involving the supplementary chorus are scheduled on weekdays in the late afternoon and evenings. Once staging begins, there will also be weekend rehearsals. A full (tentative) schedule of rehearsals and performances will be provided prior to the commencement of rehearsals. The 2013-2014 performance season runs from October 5, 2013, through March 23, 2014.
