Summerstage Pro Announces Open Auditions For
Legally Blonde
at the Hoboken Children’s Theater
Actors and dancers are invited to audition for the Hoboken Children’s Theater Summerstage Pro production of
Legally Blonde. Open auditions will be held on Saturday, February 16 for all roles, and on Sunday, February 17 for the dance ensemble, it was announced today by the company’s Artistic Director, Chase Leyner. All auditions will take place at Hoboken Children’s Theater, 720 Monroe Street, 3rd floor, in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Acting auditions will take place from 2 pm to 7 pm on the 16th at fifteen-minute intervals. Actors should prepare a one-minute monologue and 32 bars of a song of their choice as well as one or more of the following: “So Much Better,” “Positive,” “Harvard Variation,” “Whipped Into Shape,” “Legally Blonde Remix,” “Serious,” “Chip On My Shoulder,” “Blood in the Water,” and “Ireland.”
Dance auditions are slated to begin at 10 am on the 17th.
Callbacks for all will be on February 17.
Auditions are open to all high school and college performers. Rehearsals begin on May 17, and performances will take place from June 28 – July 7 at Monroe Theaterspace, 720 Monroe Street in Hoboken.
Don Brewer and Lisa Capps will direct the production.
Brewer is an acclaimed actor, singer, and director who has appeared on Broadway and in the touring companies of such shows as Les Miserables, The Will Rogers Follies, The Pirate Queen, and The Who’s Tommy. He has also appeared in regional productions of Mamma Mia! (Las Vegas Broadway Production), Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (Capitol Rep Theater), The Apple Tree (Goodspeed Opera House), and On the Twentieth Century (Goodspeed Opera House).
Capps is a renowned actress, singer, director, and educator whose credits include roles in the Broadway and national productions of Les Miserables (where she earned the distinction of being the only woman in the show’s history of to have played all three leading roles), Miss Saigon, and The Who’s Tommy. Capps has directed Les Miserables (HCT), A Hoboken Tale, Willie Wonka, andBeauty and the Beast at Waterfront Montessori, where she is the Director of Theater Education.
Award-winning Artistic Director and Choreographer Chase Leyner is a seasoned performer, educator, choreographer, and director. She founded the Hoboken Children’s Theater in 2002. Over a hundred productions later, HCT has become on the premiere children’s training programs, with students going on to Broadway, films, national television commercials, and competitive BFA programs. Theatrical Rights Worldwide recently named HCT as the resident development company for their Broadway Youth Series.
