Auditions for Kaleidoscope are June 17 & 18!

This is a great opportunity to be in a play without the commitment of a full-run show. These are reader’s theater shows and won’t require complete memorization of scripts. For more info, contact Carolyn McCloskey at

SUNDAY JUNE 17 AND MONDAY JUNE 18

6:00 – 7:30 Shrink Island auditions in Arena Theater

6:00-7:30 Seniors and Showcase Auditions in Loft

7:30-9:00 Catholic School Girls in Loft;

Tartuffe and The Importance of Being Earnest in Arena Theater

Note: you may audition for as many plays as you wish and may be cast in more than one play. Rehearsal schedules will be planned accordingly to avoid schedule conflicts.

New Script Shrink Island by Kimberly A. Hinton, directed by Steve Cox.

Barb, the Bartender 21-50

Bernie, the Bartender 21-70

Joe the Compulsive Liar 21-45 sleazy

Narcissistic Jim 35-45 handsome, self involved

Carla the Sex Addict 21-45 seductive

Joyce the Over analyst 45-70 motherly, “Dr. Joyce” type

Dependent Dave 30-45 hunched, disheveled

Obsessive-Compulsive Nick 21-50

The Investigator 40-70 film noir style detective

The Man Who Ends Up Dead 30-70 mystery man

Note from director: some roles may be gender-reversed if need be.

Scripts will be available to check out in the box office prior to auditions.

Three performances: August 10, 11 & 12.

Catholic School Girls by Casey Kurti directed by Carolyn McCloskey.

4 women of any age who will play very young girls of varying ages as they grow up, and 4 women who will play adults.

The play is about four girls going to a catholic school and their experiences during different grade levels. Each girl has at least one monologue which would need to be memorized. The four adults are nuns who are teachers in the school.

Monologues will be available in the box office for review prior to the audition.

Two performances: August 24 & 25.

Tartuffe by Moliere, director (TBA).

Women: Madame Pernelle, Orgon’s mother

Elimire, Orgon’s wife

Dorine, the maid

Mariane, Orgon’s daughter

Men: Damis, Orgon’s son

Cleante, Elmire’s brother

Orgon, a wealthy ex-officer of the King’s guard

Valere, Mariane’s fiancée

Tartuffe, the guest

Bailiff

Officer

Some roles may be played by the same person. Auditions will be cold reads from the script.

One performance: August 18.

The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde, directed by Chris Forrer.

Cast List:

Women: Lady Bracknell, Algernon’s Aunt Augusta

Gwendolen Fairfax, Lady Bracknell’s daughter

Miss Prism, Cecily’s governess

Cecily Cardew, Jack Worthing’s ward

Men: Lane, man servant to Algernon Moncrieff

Algernon Moncrieff

Ernest Worthing (Jack)

Rev. Canon Chasuble, Rector of Woolton

Merriman, butler in Mr. Worthing’s country house.

One performance: August 17. Auditions will be cold reads from the script.

Senior Sunday

Includes multiple parts for both men and women of 55 and older in short skits.

One performance: August 19.

Showcase Sunday

Those auditioning should bring their monologue, reading, storytelling piece, musical piece, poetry or skit to auditions to be reviewed for appropriateness and quality. Selection will then be made for performance on Sunday.

One performance: August 26.
