SEEKING SINGERS/ACTORS for HERE TO RECRUIT YOU a new musical about the early life of gay political icon Harvey Milk being presented as part of the 2019 Fresh Fruit Festival.
HERE TO RECRUIT YOU will be presented for 3 performances (July 18th, 20th, and 21st) at The Wild Project in the East Village. The three-week rehearsal period will be evenings and weekends. No Pay. Travel/Expenses covered for AEA members (Showcase Approval pending).
Set largely in the avant-garde theater scene of the 1970’s, Playwright/Director Michael Boyd is seeking Singer/Actors who can accurately reflect the quirky, bohemian lifestyle of the period. Most performers will be play multiple/varied roles.
HARVEY MILK – White male, plays 33-48 years old, wall street businessman who becomes a long-haired hippie and then a serious politician.
GALEN McKINLEY – White male, plays 16-33 years old, sensitive and troubled. Despite a mostly successful life/career, constantly battles substance abuse, sexual addiction, and suicidal tendencies.
SCOTT SMITH – White male, blonde, plays 21-30 years old, gentle and kind Southern boy
DAN WHITE – White male, 22 years old, clean-cut, boy next door type, former firefighter/ cop
BILLY SIPPLE – White male, early 20’s, solid build, gay but closeted
JOE CAMPBELL – White male, early 20’s, dark-haired, handsome actor
ANITA BRYANT – White female, 27 years old, popular Christian singer
DICK PABICH – White male, early 20’s, straight-acting and business-like
JIM RIVALDO – White male, tall/thin, effeminate with a quick wit and biting sense of humor
MICHAEL WONG – Chinese-American, 20’s, slightly nerdy with an underlying wit/sarcasm
PAULETTE – Black female, early 20’s, intelligent, socially aware, and outspoken
JIMMY – Black male, funny, spirited, and unapologetically gay
JACK LIRA – Mexican-American, early 20’s, sweet-natured but unbalanced.
