AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE - ProArts

Auditions for ProArts’ “And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little”

Auditions have been scheduled for the final show of the ProArts Spring season: “And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little” written by Paul Zindel. Auditions will be held on Sunday, March 18, between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm at the ProArts Playhouse at Azeka Shopping Center (Makai). The show, directed by Mark Collmer, who recently directed “Sylvia” for ProArts, will open May 18 and run three weekends through June 3.

Auditions are for actors 17 and over. Please bring a current résumé and headshot and be prepared to read from the script(s). Scripts will be made available (online) when calling for an audition appointment. A stipend is paid to all participants.

The characters in the play are Anna Reardon, 30-40s; Catherine Reardon, 30s-50s; Ceil Reardon Adams, 30s to 50s; Mrs. Pentrano, open age; Fleur Stein, 30s-50s; Bob Stein, 30s-50s; and The Delivery Boy, 16-18

“And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little” tells the story of the three Reardon sisters who have grown up in a house dominated by their mother, who is recently deceased. All of them are employed in the public school system. And all of them have secrets to share. Simmering resentments of many years burst alive and are exacerbated by the intrusion of a well-meaning but boorish neighbor couple, whose unexpected arrival impels the action towards its shattering conclusion in which all the pathos, humor and searing honesty of the play combine with overwhelming effect .
