The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ presents Florence and Mojo, an evening of two one-act plays by Alice Childress. Part of our mission is to bring rarely-seen classics to life as a special gift for our patrons. Alice Childress, often acknowledged as the only 20th-century African-American woman to have written, produced, and published plays for four decades, was at the height of her powers in the 1950s and 60s. Though her full-length play Trouble in Mind just finished a long-overdue run on Broadway, her work is still largely unknown. Her plays have stood the test of time, and we've chosen two very different but superb one-acts to open the door to her broad literary universe which spanned over 40 years and earned her a Pulitzer Prize nomination. Our $30 Under 30 Tickets are also available for every performance. "Pay What You Can" seats are available for every performance on a first-come, first-serve basis.
