This piece was commissioned and devised to honor the legacy of Harriet Tubman as the City of Newark officially unveils a new monument of Tubman at the newly renamed Tubman Square (formerly known as Washington Park).
’Til We All Free’ was developed with a cohort of young Newarkers on a journey to explore Tubman’s tremendous impact, as well as the work still needed to achieve true liberation. Through research, exploratory improvisation, movement and music we highlight the importance of community and collective impact in creating change. This event is a part of the Newark Museum's Community Day and a part of the 2023 Stages Festival of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance.
