At the tender age of sixteen, Bette defies her family, community, and her Catholic faith by choosing to raise her son, Will, as a single teen mom. The boys father, Andy, disappears before Wills birth, leaving Bette heartbroken and clinging to a fantasy of an ideal marriage and family with the headstrong Andy. Now, in middle age, Bettes world is turned upside down when that fantasy becomes a very real possibility. Secrets are unearthed and her assumptions are challenged. Andy is not the man she thinks he is, and neither is her son Will.
