Awarded eight Tonys, including "Best Musical" for its Broadway debut, "Sweeney Todd" is a 'bloody' success. Directed by Lynn University Assistant Professor of Drama and Head of Musical Theatre, Michael Hunsaker with music and lyrics by celebrated Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, Sweeney Todd shares the story of an unjustly exiled barber seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife in 19th century London. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into Mrs. Lovett's meat pies ... and the carnage has only just begun!
