Artistic Directors, Richard Lawson, and Tina Knowles Lawson will present an All-Star cast in a stage reading of Richard Wesley’s play, The Talented Tenth, Directed by Richard Lawson to commemorate the one-year anniversary of The WACO (Where Art Can Occur) Theater Center and celebrate WACO Homecoming Weekend.
Following Saturday's encore reading, WACO Homecoming Weekend will culminate with the ‘WACO College Spirit’ party where attendees will represent their current colleges, universities, and alma-maters. The party will include a live DJ, hors-d'oeuvres and drinks.
The Talented Tenth chronicles the story of six Howard University graduates who, entering midlife begin to question their lives. Bernard Evans, a former civil rights activist and current successful business executive questions the choices that he’s made in life as he seeks a balance between his activist past and comfortable future.
