With his most ambitious production yet—The Batette Follies of 1939—Russall S. Beattie combines music, dance, burlesque, and sketches, bringing back the glamor and overindulgence of the Ziegfeld Follies period, famous for its visual spectacle that was the height of entertainment in a forgotten era of America.
