Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival presents HEROES of Santa Clarita, a new comedy by Randall Jay Greenwald, directed by David Stears. At a suburban poker night, a tryst, a revelation, and an old flame are in the cards for a longtime group of friends. Heroes of Santa Clarita is a comedic turn on how we manage marriage and life's expectations behind the idyllic facade of a planned community. The production stars Renato Biribin as Danny, Liesel Retief as Laura, David Salper as Will, Peter Schiavelli as Josh, Ashley Taylor as Claire, and Richard Van Slyke as Sam. Heroes is Randall Jay Greenwald’s third premier with Santa Clarita Shakespeare, after the online play Shakespeare in Little Boxes, and last year’s production of Out of Touch at The MAIN. He has studied playwriting with the LA Department of Cultural Affairs’ Wordsmiths program, where he produced “The Werewolf Project” including his own play, Wolf Love. Santa Clarita Shakespeare is Santa Clarita’s small professional theatre company founded in 2010. Beyond producing Shakespeare, the company’s focus includes classical and original works, providing theatrical experiences that are accessible for all audiences.
