Thtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) is pleased to announce Adieu M. Haffmann, an original and powerful play written and directed by Jean-Philippe Daguerre, on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 7:30 PM. This intimate play, set during World War 2, is built like a feature film, incorporating fun and suspenseful sequences, and mixing humor and gravity. Daguerre recreates the hidden torments of 1942 Paris with emotion and allure. It is a masterful dive into the harsh reality of occupied Frances darkest hours. Before being bestowed 4 Molires awards (the French Tony Awards), Adieu Monsieur Haffmann already had a glorious history. The play was first presented at the 2016 Festival dAvignon, and then embarked on a long tour across France, then sold out the Thtre du Petit Montparnasse in Paris. This success is due to its masterful narration, full of twists and turns, and the sharpness of its point of view. The personality of the employee turned boss, loving husband that willfully lets his wife cheat on him, both Nazi sympathizers and protecting a Jew, is a wonderful incongruity.Jean-Philippe Daguerres script brings us back to the torments of an occupied France, when asking for someones solidarity meant exposing yourself to the greatest perils. Although the writing and directing remain accessible to all ages, the play turns out to be a deep and ambiguous reflection on identity, the sense of belonging to a community, possession and sharing, devotion to others or, to the contrary, vilenessSYNOPSISParis, 1942. All Jewish people are now obligated to wear a yellow star by law. Jeweler Joseph Haffmann offers his employee Pierre Vigneau to let him run the shop, on the condition that he hides his former boss until safer times. Will Pierre take the risk of secretly housing him in the shop? If so, will there be any conditions? The play is a huge success critically and unanimously acclaimed.6 Molire Awards nominations in 2018, including 4 Molire AwardsBest Show in a Private TheatreBest Supporting Actor Franck DESMEDTBest Female Newcomer Julie CAVANNABest Living Francophone Playwright Jean-Philippe DAGUERREBest Director Jean-Philippe DAGUERREBest Actor in a Private Theatre Grgori BAQUET** In French with English subtitles**
