Towne Street Theatre (TST) proudly presents David Lee Lindsey’s groundbreaking, full-length play 160 Years of Walking: 1865-2025. Directed by Justin Lord and Veronica Thompson, Lindsey’s play charts a harrowing journey from the brutal shackles of slavery to the complex realities of contemporary society through the lens of a single bloodline. The show seamlessly blends traditional dramatic elements with innovative forms like hip-hop and stream-of-consciousness, creating a truly immersive theatrical experience that resonates with audiences on multiple levels. The bold fusion of historical fact and imaginative storytelling creates a powerful and thought-provoking tapestry that is both deeply personal and profoundly universal. “At TST, we returned to the full-length play format with 160 Years because the story is a meaningful testament to the enduring spirit of Black people,” said Nancy Cheryll Davis Belamy, TST’s co-founder and artistic director. “The show follows generations of a family that represents our universal quest for a more just and equitable future. It is a journey that audience members will not soon forget.” 160 Years will be presented at Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatre Los Angeles in Hollywood. Previews are Saturday, October 5th, and Sunday and October 6th at 8pm, and Thursday, October 10th at 4pm. The show runs October 11th through 27th, Thursdays at 8pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays and 8pm, and Sundays at 4pm. The performance on October 13th will include a special audience talkback with the writer, cast and crew after the show. Tickets can be purchased here.
