The distinguished baritone Randall Scarlata performs with Gilbert Kalish, a renowned distinguished professor at Stony Brook University and a multi-award winning pianist recognized as a major figure in American music-making.The program will feature Schwanengesang, a work from Schuberts final year.Schwanengesang sets many poems by the 19th-century poet Heinrich Heine to music. The last song in the cycle, a work of sweetness and love, is the very last work that Schubert wrote. This unique concert by these special artists celebrates the triumph and tragedy of Schuberts life and music.
