After the recent death of his father, painfully shy and withdrawn Jason finds an outlet for his anxiety through the Christian Puppet Ministry, in his devoutly religious, hometown of Cypress, Texas. Jason’s complicated relationships with the town pastor, the school bully, the first girl who expresses any interest in him, and—most especially—his mother, are thrown into upheaval when Jason’s puppet, Tyrone, reveals a shocking and dangerously irreverent personality all its own.
Nominated for five Tony Awards – including Best Play – this mature-themed comedy explores the startlingly fragile nature of faith, morality, and the ties that bind us, all to hilariously comic effect.
